Vlora, A Mediterranean Paradise

The Mediterranean boasts an array of azure beaches and peaceful spots that celebrate a nomadic way of life, but only a select few can claim the title of the finest in Europe, as noted in an article by “Travel off Path.”

Albania, a modest country, has experienced a surge of “digital nomads” since the introduction of unofficial visas in 2022. Many of these newcomers have opted to reside in Tirana, with Vlora emerging as one of Albania’s most breathtaking cities.

Where is Vlora situated?

Vlora is Albania’s third largest city, located along pristine shores overlooking the Bay of Vlorë (those pesky dots again!), a passage almost a straight line from Italy’s trendiest escape, Lecce. This coastal city is expated to become Albania’s premier tourist destination for international visitors, as the nation captures growing interest, notably through the discovery of more hidden treasures like Vlora.

This resort town provides high-quality lodgings ideal for a peaceful getaway, with apartments available for rent at $400 per month. Boasting more vibrant blue waters than Santa Fe, the capital of New Mexico, this picturesque city presents stunning landscapes that resemble a postcard. Travel enthusiasts recommend visiting three of the finest beaches in Vlora: Gjipe Beach, Dhërmi Beach, and Pulëbardha Beach.

Reaching Vlora will be so much easier come March 2025 when the new airport is slated to take flight for the first time. The country’s flagship airline, “Air Albania,” is leading the way in travel options. With Ryanair inaugurating flights to Dakhla, Western Sahara, it’s likely that Vlora will soon be on their list as well. Currently, the most convenient way to reach Vlora is by taking a bus from Tirana. Alternatively, you can fly to Corfu or several Italian ports including Bari, Brindisi, and Lecce, followed by a ferry ride.
