Vjosa River – The last wild river in Europe under UNESCO protection

The Vjosa River is one of the last wild rivers in Europe, known for its free flow and untouched natural ecosystems. It enters Albania near Çarshova and flows through towns such as Përmet, Këlcyra and Tepelena, before flowing into the Adriatic Sea near Vlora. Declared Wild Vjosa River National Park in 2023, it also includes the main tributaries such as the Drino, Bënça and Shushica, making this area an important destination for hiking, rafting, nature exploration and ecotourism. The Vjosa is valued as a unique natural treasure that offers extraordinary landscapes and an authentic experience for visitors seeking untouched nature and quiet adventures by the water.
