The Great Lake of Lura is located within Lura National Park, at an altitude of over 1600 meters above sea level on Kurora e Lurës Mountain, within a large glacial cirque complex. It is a glacial lake covering an area of approximately 50 hectares.The lake is characterized by crystal-clear, cold waters. During the winter months, it freezes completely on the surface, while in summer it is adorned with large white water lilies. Rich in biodiversity, the lake forms a unique and fascinating alpine lake ecosystem.The Great Lake of Lura holds significant scientific value (geological, hydrological, and biological), as well as aesthetic, educational, ecological, and cultural importance.The lake can be accessed by following the rural road from the town of Peshkopia to Fushë Lurë.
