Kanina is located only 6 km from the city of Vlora and is one of the most famous historical and tourist villages in Albania. In its center stands the Kanina Castle, built in the 4th century BC and rebuilt by the Byzantines, which offers magnificent views over the Bay of Vlora, the city and the surrounding mountains.
The village still preserves traditional stone houses, narrow cobblestone streets and an authentic Southern atmosphere. Another important attraction is the Church of St. Mary, a peaceful place where you can feel the history and spiritual heritage of the area. Kanina has had great strategic importance throughout history, being the seat of Albanian princes such as Gjergj Arianiti and then temporarily of Skanderbeg.
