The Archaeological Park of Shkodra is located at the southeastern entrance to the city of Shkodra, in northwestern Albania, on a rocky hill located between the Drin and Buna rivers. This archaeological area includes a vast historical territory, the most prominent element of which is the Rozafa Castle, one of the most important monuments of Albanian cultural heritage.
The park bears witness to a long history of habitation and fortification from the Illyrian, Roman and medieval periods, reflecting Shkodra's strategic role throughout the centuries. Thanks to its dominant position, the area offers panoramic views of the city of Shkodra, the lake, the Zadrima plain and the surrounding river courses.
Today, the Archaeological Park of Shkodra represents an important cultural and tourist destination, visited for its historical, archaeological and natural values, as well as for the importance it has in the identity and history of the city.
