The Archaeological Park of Finiqi is located near the present-day town of Finiqi, near Saranda, and represents one of the most important archaeological centers of Southern Albania. The ancient city, known in antiquity as Phoinike, was the capital of the Illyrian tribe of the Kaoni and one of the main centers of Epirus. Founded around the 4th century BC, Finiqi developed an important political, economic and cultural role, and during the Hellenistic and Roman periods it was a well-known center in the region.
Inside the park, visitors can see an ancient theater, fortification walls, the ruins of the acropolis, temples, dwellings, and other objects that show the urban organization of the city. Some remains from later periods, including Paleo-Christian and Byzantine elements, testify to the continuity of civic life over the centuries.
The park lies on a hill with panoramic views over the Vrina plains and the Bistrica valley, offering an experience where ancient history intertwines with the beautiful landscape of southern Albania.
