The Amantia Archaeological Park is located near the village of Ploçë in the Municipality of Selenica and is one of the most important archaeological centers of Southern Albania. Founded around the 5th century BC, Amantia was an Illyrian city that played a major political and cultural role and later, in the Roman period, developed to gain the status of a city. Inside the park, visitors can see the ancient stadium built in the 3rd century BC, which is among the best preserved in the Balkans, as well as the monumental surrounding walls that testify to the defensive power of the city. Also located there are the ruins of the Temple of Aphrodite, the city's necropolis and the remains of the acropolis, which tell about the life and beliefs of the inhabitants of that time. The park lies on hills with magnificent views towards the Vjosa Valley, combining ancient history with natural beauty and making it a special destination for visitors who want to experience the Illyrian heritage in a vibrant cultural and natural environment.
