In the context of strengthening inter-institutional cooperation in the field of tourism promotion, the Director General of the National Tourism Agency, Ms. Zana Çela, held an official meeting with the Ambassador of the Republic of Turkey to Albania, Mr. Tayyar Kağan Atay.
During the meeting held at the Embassy of the Republic of Turkey in Tirana, the rapid transformation of Albania on the integration path and the very positive performance of the tourism sector were discussed.
Ms. Çela presented the medium and long-term vision of the Albanian Government, which extends beyond simple economic growth, specifically to the strategic development of high-level tourism. Bearing in mind the increasing numbers of tourists, with the number of visitors from Turkey exceeding 300 thousand in 2024 alone, Ambassador Atay congratulated Albania on this great success. “We are proud of your success. For a country with 2.8 million inhabitants, attracting a number 4 times larger than the population is a great success,” the Ambassador emphasized.
In this context, the Director General of AKT expressed interest in consolidating cooperation and exchanging experiences between the National Tourism Agency and the Turkish Tourism Promotion and Development Agency, while the Ambassador confirmed his willingness to support this process within the framework of the strategic partnership between the two countries.
