The Director General of the National Tourism Agency, Ms. Çela, participated in the activity "National Dialogue on Women in Tourism" organized by UN Women Albania in collaboration with the Ministry of Tourism, Culture and Sports.
In her speech at the first panel discussion, Ms. Çela emphasized that although Albania does not have a long tradition in tourism, especially in the elite sector, hospitality is its unchanging brand; its strongest brand, a value that has deeper roots than in these years of the tourist boom.
"Since the time of Lord Byron and Edith Durham", Albanian women have been an inseparable part of this welcoming identity and the history that the world knows about Albania. Today, the empowerment of women in tourism is transforming the face of the country - they are creating value, identity and development in every corner of Albania, from the guesthouses of the north to the agrotourism of the south", said the General Director of AKT.
This event presented a national assessment for women in the tourism sector through the "Safety Guide for Foreign Women Travelers", a valuable initiative developed by UN Women Albania in collaboration with national expert Ms. Blerina Ago.
The event marked an important step towards building a more inclusive and sustainable tourism sector, where the role of women takes its rightful place as a factor in economic, social and cultural development.
