In view of the role that the National Tourism Agency has in planning, organizing and coordinating the national calendar of tourism events, the General Director of the National Tourism Agency, Ms. Zana Cela, held a meeting with Mr. Alessandro Ruggera, Director of the Italian Institute of Culture.
The meeting discussed new cooperation opportunities that serve as bridges between our two countries through the promotion of culture and tourism.
During the conversation, the Director General of AKT expressed the desire to strengthen partnerships with Italian companies and cultural associations, with the aim of creating joint initiatives that promote cultural heritage and contemporary creativity. “These initiatives, through synergies between institutions and local communities, will contribute to the further promotion of Albania and Italy as cultural and tourist destinations,” emphasized Ms. Çela.
For his part, Mr. Ruggera expressed his willingness to cooperate in this regard, emphasizing the importance of intercultural projects that bring people closer through art, tradition and creativity.
By September 2025, the number of Italian visitors to Albania had increased by 24% compared to the previous year, reaching over 1.1 million visitors. This is a clear indication of the increasingly strong ties between our two countries, with Italy remaining one of the most important markets for Albanian tourism.
