Lake Viroit is located about 3 km northwest of the city of Gjirokastra and is one of the most unique natural lakes in southern Albania. It is supplied by the karst spring known as “Mëma e Viroit”, which makes the water crystal clear and clean. The area around the lake includes a natural habitat rich in flora and fauna, making it a nature reserve and natural monument.
The lake also has caves and underwater formations, making it attractive for diving and exploration. The water level changes throughout the year, offering different views from winter to summer, and serves as a suitable place for hiking, fishing and relaxing in nature.
