The Sinec Canyon (or Saraseli Canyon) is a natural monument of special importance, declared a “Natural Monument” in 2002. It consists of karst limestone formations and steep slopes, while the maximum depth reaches about 300 meters; the width of the canyon varies between 20-30 meters. The area includes the Sinec spring, the Saraseli stream, rich biodiversity and prominent scientific and ecological values. In recent years, the spring and the canyon have begun to be used more for tourism; many residents and organizations are committed to its preservation despite the project for an aqueduct that could threaten the natural integrity of the area.
