Lake Pogradec

Lake Pogradec, as part of the Lake Ohrid Region, is part of the UNESCO World Heritage Site, officially known as the “Natural and Cultural Heritage of the Lake Ohrid Region”. The site was registered in 1979 and expanded in 2019 to include the Albanian territory, ensuring the full protection of the lake and the surrounding areas. Lake Pogradec represents one of the oldest and rarest ecosystems in the world, distinguished by its biodiversity and unique landscape. It constitutes an important natural and cultural asset of exceptional international value.
