The Karaburun-Sazan National Marine Park is the only marine park of its kind in Albania and represents a natural and environmental asset of national and international importance. Declared a national park in 2010, it extends over an area of approximately 12,570 hectares in the southwest of the Bay of Vlora and includes the Karaburun peninsula and the Sazan island, along with the aquatic ecosystems surrounding them. The area is characterized by a rich biodiversity, with rare species of marine flora and fauna, including sea turtles, Mediterranean seals and deep corals.
The park has high natural, scientific and touristic values, offering a unique combination of wild coastal landscapes, sea caves, untouched beaches and crystal clear waters. The Haxhi Aliu Cave, a unique natural monument carved by the sea, is one of the most popular attractions in the area. Activities allowed in the park include diving, coastal exploration, wildlife observation and sailing with non-motorized vehicles, always in accordance with the principles of nature conservation.
