Butrint National Park

Butrint National Park is one of Albania's most important historical and natural monuments, declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO. Located in the south of the country, just a few minutes from Konispoli and Saranda, Butrint is a unique destination where ancient ruins, rich biodiversity and tranquil water landscapes combine. 

The habitats of this park are home to about 35 globally threatened species. The Butrint wetland ecosystem has rich biodiversity, with a variety of habitats and species. It is home to: about 247 bird species, of which 70% are waterfowl; 9 amphibian species and 25 reptile species, representing about 60-75% of the country's herpetofauna; and about 39 mammal species, or about 60% of the country's mammalofauna.

The littoral waters of Butrint are frequented by sea turtles, dolphins, mainly the short-beaked dolphin, but there are also rare visits from the Mediterranean seal.
