Maja Jezercë

Jezerca Peak, with an altitude of 2,694 meters above sea level, is the highest peak of the Albanian Alps and the second highest in the Balkans after Mount Korab. It is located in the heart of the Bjeshkët e Nemuna mountain range, between the Valbona Valley and Theth, and represents one of the most impressive mountain landscapes of Albania.

The area is characterized by alpine terrain with steep ridges, deep glacial valleys and numerous water sources. The route to the summit is one of the most sought-after routes for climbers and mountain walkers, with panoramic views that include the entire Alps, Mount Kolata and the surrounding valleys.

The Jezerca Peak has been declared a National Natural Monument for its geomorphological, climatic and touristic values. It represents an important reference point for mountain, adventure and alpine tourism in Albania, as well as a symbolic element of the natural heritage of the north.

The area is part of the "Albanian Alps" National Park, which preserves one of the richest ecosystems of flora and fauna in the Balkans.
