The Nivica Canyons are located in the mountainous area of Kurvelesh, about 20 km from Tepelena and constitute one of the most spectacular wonders of Albanian nature. Created by the erosion of the Shushica River, the canyons are about 8 kilometers long and 200 meters deep in some places, creating a powerful and dramatic landscape.
The steep limestone cliffs, small caves, seasonal waterfalls, and narrow riverbed form a wild and untouched environment, ideal for climbers, explorers, and adventure tourism enthusiasts.
From the heights of the village of Nivicë, visitors can enjoy panoramic views over the surrounding canyons and valleys, while new mountain roads are making the area increasingly accessible for nature tourism.
The Nivica Canyons have been declared a Natural Monument for their geomorphological, hydrological and aesthetic values. They represent a unique karst landscape, which testifies to the natural processes of the formation of the mountainous relief of Southern Albania.
This natural complex is one of the most important points of sustainable and adventure tourism in Albania, attracting more and more local and foreign visitors for hiking, nature photography and geological exploration.
