The Museum of Përmet is one of the city's most important cultural institutions, reflecting the history, traditions, and social and cultural development of the region. It offers a broad overview of daily life, customs, and historical events that have shaped the identity of Përmet over the centuries.
The museum's exhibitions include archaeological, ethnographic and historical objects, which show the development of this region from ancient times to more recent periods. One of the most special events was the 2024 exhibition, opened on the occasion of the 80th anniversary of the death of Mary Edith Durham, entitled "Miss Mary Edith Durham, Queen of the Mountains (1863–1944)".
This exhibition presented original photographs and sketches taken by Durham herself during her travels in Albania, offering an authentic testimony to Albanian life, culture, and hospitality in the early 20th century.
Today, the Përmet Museum remains an important center of local heritage, combining the history of the region with homage to international figures who have helped promote Albanian culture.
