Ethnographic Museum of Kruja

The Ethnographic Museum of Kruja is located within the Kruja Fortress, in a historic building of the Toptani family, built in 1764. This object, which itself constitutes an important monument of traditional architecture, preserves original elements of Ottoman construction and is a clear testimony to the lifestyle of wealthy Albanian families of the 18th century.

The museum opened to the public on November 20, 1989 and has since become one of the city's most visited attractions. It houses around 1,000 authentic objects, some of which date back 500 years. These objects include tools, textiles, folk costumes, old weapons, household furnishings and inscriptions, which present in detail the traditional Albanian life, customs, crafts and handicrafts of the Kruja area and beyond.

Thanks to investments in recent years, the Ethnographic Museum has benefited from a modernization process with structural repairs, interactive screens and digital technologies, which enrich the visitor experience by making the exhibition more attractive and educational.

Today, the Ethnographic Museum of Kruja is not only a space that preserves the memory of the past, but also a model of merging tradition with innovation, offering an authentic journey into Albanian culture and spiritual heritage.
