The Ethnographic Museum of Kavaja is one of the city's most important cultural attractions and an authentic reflection of traditional Albanian life. It is located in a characteristic house built in 1800 by the Arkaxhi family, which was converted into a museum in 1971. The building, with Ottoman architectural style, has been declared a Category I Cultural Monument for its historical and aesthetic values.
The museum has a collection of over 800 objects that reflect the daily life and traditions of past generations. It exhibits handicrafts such as pottery, copper and textile works, household appliances that illustrate family life of the time, as well as traditional clothing with rich ornaments that reflect the cultural identity of the Albanian regions.
The exhibition offers a vivid journey into the culture and history of Kavaja, bringing to visitors the customs, family celebrations and community life that have shaped the city's identity over the centuries. Thanks to restoration and modern technology, the museum is today a vibrant center of cultural heritage, combining tradition with the contemporary visitor experience.
