Albania will be the focus of European tourism as it will host the meeting of the World Tourism Organization's Commission for Europe for the first time, on April 7-9.
Tourism ministers and senior representatives from 40 European countries are expected to gather in Tirana for the 70th meeting of the UNWTO Commission for Europe.
The agreement to hold this meeting was signed by the Minister of Tourism and Environment Mirela Kumbaro and the Secretary-General of the World Tourism Organization Zurab Pololikashvili, in March in Berlin, during the days of the International Tourism Fair ITB Berlin 2024. This meeting will also be accompanied by an Investment Forum.
Also, the meeting of this committee dedicated to tourism comes one month after Albania was officially declared the "Country of Honor" at the largest International Tourism Fair ITB Berlin 2025.
Earlier, the World Tourism Organization ranked Albania first in Europe for tourist flows for 2023. After reaching the record of over 10 million foreign tourists visiting our country in 2023, Albania during the first two months of 2024, according to data published by the Ministry of Tourism and Environment, hosted about 1 million foreign visitors.
