Mirdita traditional costume

Xhupi as the clothing of Mirditore women, is an integral part of the Mirditore identity and has been declared a “National Masterpiece of Intangible Cultural Heritage”. Despite the continuous cultural overlaps, the sweatshirt of Mirditore costumes has preserved the diversity of mythical and iconic symbolism. The symbols found on the sweatshirt, such as the tree of life, the cross, the symbol of the sun, the concentric circle, the mystical lotus, the snake, the magic eyes, etc., are considered important traces of the early Illyrian-Arbonian culture.
