Traditional dishes

Klos, nestled between the mountains and valleys of Mat, proudly preserves a rich culinary tradition, born from the agricultural and livestock life of its inhabitants. The traditional dishes of this area are simple in composition, but rich in flavor, reflecting the close connection of man with nature and local products.

On the tables of Klos, cornmeal occupies an important place. Cornbread, baked in a clay pot or in a stone oven, accompanies almost every meal and is often served with yogurt, white cheese or fresh butter. Dishes such as kachamak and persheshi are an integral part of the local cuisine, especially during the cold season, when food should be warm and nutritious.

Meat, especially lamb and goat, is cooked with care and respect for tradition. Casseroles with meat and vegetables, slow-roasted meat in a pot or stewed with mountain herbs, are dishes that are usually served at family celebrations and important events. Dairy products, such as cheese, yogurt and butter, constitute another pillar of Klos cuisine, adding flavor and nutritional value to every meal.

At the end of the table, traditional desserts such as homemade halva, pancakes or honey and walnut cakes reflect the hospitality and generosity of the area. Every Klos dish carries within itself history, customs and love for tradition, making the cuisine of this region a cultural treasure that is passed down from generation to generation.
