Kakunja Waterfall in Tirana

Tirana is blessed with many natural places such as canyons, caves and waterfalls. This is Kakunja waterfall, located near the village of Kakunjë. It is also known as the waterfall of Askolaj cliff. At about 8-9m, Kakunja waterfall is a continous torrent of water pouring off the side of a cliff especially during spring and autumn. The water is fed from river of Zhulimë. To go up there you have to take the road from Tirana to Baldushk and then to the village of Kakunje. You can go on foot from the village to the waterfall. The road is rural road on 3/4 of it and only a small part passes through the trails. The road is simple and easy and can be done by every nature-lover. In fact, there are no orientation marks, but with a guide you can easily navigate. This is becoming a popular destination by local guides and people who live around Tirana.
