Day 01

Tirana – Tepelena – Kurvelesh

Arrival at Tirana International Airport “Nënë Tereza”.
After arrival, rent a car from one of the many operators located near the airport.

Then depart toward the southern city of Tepelenë. The journey takes approximately 2 – 2.5 hours. Along the way, you may stop for a “take & go” coffee or take a break at one of the many bars located along the route.

At the entrance of the city of Tepelenë, we suggest stopping at one of the restaurants offering traditional cuisine, such as Oda e Hasan Beut, to enjoy a lunch that helps you become more familiar with the characteristic gastronomy of the area.

After lunch, continue toward the interior of the city. Right at the entrance, you will encounter the bust of one of the most distinguished Albanian and world historical figures, Ali Pasha of Tepelena. Continuing further, you will reach the main square of the city, called “Lord Byron” Square, in honor of the famous English poet who visited Tepelenë in 1809.

Adjacent to the square is the Castle of Ali Pasha of Tepelena, one of his main residences. From there, you can enjoy the view of the Vjosa Valley, part of the Vjosa River – the last wild river in Europe.

Afterwards, we suggest taking the road toward the Kurvelesh area, which consists of several typical mountain villages such as Nivicë, Progonat, Bençë, etc., where you will find accommodation in one of the many guesthouses in the area.

Along the way, you will encounter the Nivicë Canyons, which offer breathtaking views, as well as the Peshtura Waterfall, which is located very close to the village of Nivicë.

After exploring the area and getting acquainted with local traditions, it is time to check in and enjoy a dinner with traditional dishes.

Day 02

Kurvelesh – Saranda

The morning of the second day finds you waking up in clean and fresh nature, which fills you with energy. After enjoying a typical Labëria breakfast, depart toward the next destination – the city of Sarandë.

Unlike other roads that lead to Sarandë and offer views of the Albanian Riviera, this road offers the opportunity to enjoy magnificent mountain landscapes. The journey takes approximately 40 minutes.

As soon as you arrive in Sarandë, you will be greeted by breathtaking views of the Ionian Sea. You may visit one of the many restaurants in the city; we particularly recommend the Castle of Lëkurësi, which offers a perfect combination of traditional cuisine, history, and a spectacular view over the city and the Ionian Sea.

After that, check into one of the hotels in Sarandë and then enjoy the wonderful beaches of the city. You may take a walk along the seaside promenade of Sarandë, filled with bars, restaurants, and small artisan shops, or visit historical centers of the area such as Butrint, the old city of Onhezmi, etc.

Day 03

Saranda – Blue Eye – Gjirokaster

The third day begins by the sea, enjoying coffee and breakfast next to the Ionian Sea.

Then, depart toward the next destination – the city of Gjirokastër. Along the way, a mandatory stop is the Blue Eye, one of the pearls of Albanian natural beauty.

The Blue Eye is a natural spring that emerges from the depths of the earth and is characterized by its crystal-clear blue color, from which it has taken its name. The area offers opportunities to connect with nature, explore it, dive into the cold and crystal-clear waters, and enjoy a pleasant lunch surrounded by nature.

After visiting the Blue Eye, continue the journey toward the stone city – Gjirokastër. Upon entering the city, you will notice the characteristic houses with stone roofs. The Old Bazaar of Gjirokastër is a journey back in time, where you can closely experience traditional Gjirokastrian architecture.

The cobblestone streets lead you to the Castle of Gjirokastër, which offers rich history and a stunning view over the city and the Drino Valley.

After the historical exploration, it is time to enjoy traditional Gjirokastrian dishes and check into one of the hotels in the city.

The next morning, departure toward Tirana International Airport “Nënë Tereza”.
