Pogradec celebrates Lake Day every year, on June 21, with a series of diverse activities that bring together citizens, tourists and representatives from neighboring cities that share the shores of the same lake. During this day, the Municipality of Pogradec organizes various activities such as exhibitions, outdoor paintings, craft fairs, music concerts and information stands that create a positive impact for the city and visitors.
An important part of this organization is the participation of representatives from the Municipality of Struga and the Municipality of Ohrid, who, together with the Mayor of Pogradec, are engaged in promoting cross-border cooperation and joint protection of Lake Ohrid. Lake Day focuses on raising awareness for the protection of the lake and its biodiversity, as well as promoting joint projects in tourism, culture and sustainable development, with the aim of creating a common tourist offer for the three cities surrounding this natural asset. Lake Ohrid is a common asset, and since July 5, 2019 it has been declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
