Daily Express: Albania – the small European country more beautiful than Greece and Croatia

"Albania, the small European country more beautiful than Greece and Croatia," is how the British daily "Daily Express" describes the natural beauties of our country.

In one of her articles, tourists are recommended to book their flights as soon as possible to discover the Albanian beauties.

“Tourists looking for a sunny destination – just a few hours from the UK – without the tourist influx of popular destinations such as Croatia and Spain – need look no further than Albania. Overlooking the Adriatic and Ionian seas, this country offers a stunning Riviera with beautiful beaches and coves – easily rivaling those found on the coast of its neighbour, Greece. Indeed, some of the tourists who have already discovered Albania are easily drawing comparisons with more famous – and more expensive – holiday destinations,” writes the “Daily Express”.

Laura Hewson, a tourist from New Zealand who visited the country last fall, told Express that at the time she was planning to go to Croatia.

"But one of our friends who had been to Albania told us we should go there. He said it was like Greece and Croatia, but cheaper and much more beautiful because there were no crowds of tourists," said Laura Hewson.

"We actually stayed in a four-star hotel – with breakfast included – for the same price in a room with eight foreigners – in Italy and Spain," she said.

Her companion, Farrell Modd, revealed that social media had played a role in choosing Albania as their destination - adding that they had seen a number of TikTok videos showing off the country's incredible scenery.

Farrell said the reality matched the epic videos online and that he was impressed with the treatment given to tourists.

"The water was stunning and clear blue. Albania offers many places to swim," said Laura.

Laura visited the tourist town of Vlora in November 2023 – where temperatures were 19 degrees Celsius during the day.

While the palm-fringed coast was almost completely free of tourist crowds, allowing the couple to fully enjoy the place – the city had no shortage of amenities for vacationers looking for fun – at an affordable price.

A dinner in Albania rarely costs more than £10 to £15 per person – while tourists looking for more economical options can eat freshly prepared pizzas for £5.

As for drinks, beers in Vlora cost only 2 pounds, while alcoholic drinks and cocktails cost around 4 pounds.

Flights from the UK are also cheap, with direct flights from London to Albania's capital, Tirana, costing just £28.
