Church of Saint George

The Church of Saint George has been declared a Cultural Monument. It was built in 1776 and is of rare iconographic, cultural, and historical value, with frescoes painted by Kostandin and Tërpo Zografi in 1782. In addition to the church scenes, these frescoes still depict popular figures today, not only in the characteristic costume of Myzeqe but also reflecting the well-known ethnography of this region. It is one of the most iconic and beautiful churches of Myzeqe and forms part of Albania’s national cultural heritage. The Church of Saint George is a typical example of a special variant of church architecture, widespread in the Myzeqe region during the XNUMXth–XNUMXth centuries.

The Church of Saint George in Libofshë is located about 14 km from the city of Fier, in a dominant position overlooking the Libofshë plain. It is visited by tourists and visitors to Fier throughout the year.
