Kanina Castle

Kanina Castle is a cultural heritage monument in Kanina. Kanina Castle is located on a panoramic hill south of the city of Vlora, offering a wide view over the Bay of Vlora and the Adriatic Sea. The fortification dates back to the Illyrian period and was rebuilt at various times by the Romans, Byzantines and Ottomans. This castle has great historical and cultural importance, being the place where Gjergj Kastrioti Skanderbeg was crowned as prince of Arbëria in 1451. Visitors can explore the defensive walls, towers and interior spaces with archaeological remains.
