Nettle-filled pie ( Lakror ) also known as “jani”, is a traditional Albanian pie made with thin dough and a filling of nettles, wild seasonal herbs, often combined with white cheese or cottage cheese and occasionally eggs. The nettles are cleaned, grated and lightly fried in oil, then mixed with other ingredients to create the delicious filling. The dough is rolled out in thin layers and placed on a greased baking sheet; the filling is placed on top, covered with other sheets of foil, brushed with oil or butter and baked until golden brown.
