Since the study area is mountainous, the tradition is based on livestock farming. Lamb on skewers is preferred, as are kukureci, rice-stuffed large intestine, and lamb liver (known as Ksirogjak). There is a rich tradition of dairy products, such as buttermilk, butter, and cheese.
There is a specialty, Pervelak, which is a mixture of boiled butter, cheese and bread. The bread is a special type of cake-shaped bread, called Faqefurash. It is also traditional to cook the cake with wine and honey. Wild cabbage is also widespread, and is eaten boiled. The popular fruit is the fig, which is used to make Çepele, or dried figs.

From alcoholic beverages, we have brandy and wine that add elements of the destination's uniqueness. Fish is cooked with nuts and garlic, at low temperatures.
-Mixed dishes
Unique to this area are various fruit liqueurs, usually walnut, rose, and plum. Coffee liqueur is also traditional for Old Himara. Old Qeparo enjoys the tradition of baking cookies with cinnamon and organic flour. These products have begun to be marketed.
In the menu of traditional local cuisine, in the Himara region as a whole, both fish and meat dishes are present. A large part of the villages in this region have very present meat dishes and dishes with this assortment.
Among the traditional dishes are pies with several types of cabbage, such as pie with artichokes, pie with peppers and tomatoes, pie with spinach, pie with wild cabbage, pie with beans, etc. Lamb and kid meat on skewers is an old tradition of these parts. Another interesting variant is meat wrapped in cattle fat, baked in embers and ashes. Kukureci is always present on the meat menu, as the first appetizer on the newly laid table. Of course, all dishes are made with local organic products.
At the tables of invited guests, all the villages of Himara have had and preserve the tradition of toasting, mainly with their traditional drink, rakia or even wine. The Himara area, a worthy postcard for the presentation of our country in the international arena, offers a major potential for tourism. Inhabited since ancient times, the region is an area filled with culture, traditions and patriotism, which the local residents have inherited in the most dignified way to today's generations. One cannot fail to notice the diverse architecture in each village along with the cultural monuments which are an indicator of the intellect that the residents have had over the decades.
