Kruja is one of the most important historical cities in Albania, located north of Tirana, on the slopes of Mount Kruja. It is known as the city of Skanderbeg, the National Hero, who led the Albanian resistance against the Ottoman Empire in the 15th century.
In the city center is the Kruja Castle, a major monument that today houses the Skanderbeg Museum and the Ethnographic Museum, which preserve Albanian artifacts, weapons, and traditions. The cobblestone streets and the Old Bazaar give the city a characteristic old atmosphere, where handicrafts, carpets, and souvenirs are sold.
Kruja is also known for its mountainous landscapes and beautiful views stretching towards the Tirana plain and the Adriatic. It remains a symbol of Albanian resilience, national pride and historical heritage.
