Dimal, a city on the traces of antiquity and sustainable development

Dimali is a city with a rich history and great potential for tourism development and cultural heritage preservation.

Dimal is located in the western part of the Berat District and is one of the newest municipalities of administrative organization in the country, formed after the territorial reform of 2015. The city represents a vast space that includes rich agricultural areas, ancient settlements, and a history intertwined between Illyrian antiquity and modern developments.

The area where Dimale is located is identified with the location of the ancient city of Dimale, one of the most important centers of the Illyrian tribe of the Parthines. The ancient city is mentioned by ancient authors such as Titus Livius and Polybius and is believed to have been a powerful fortress in the valley of the Seman River. The ruins of the Illyrian city are located near the village of Hekal, on a strategic hill, where traces of defensive walls and urban structures are discernible that testify to the organization of civic life before Christ.

Today, the modern city of Dimali includes the former communes of Ura Vajgurore, Cukalat, Kutalli and Poshnje. Ura Vajgurore, which serves as the center of the municipality, has been an important communication hub between Berat, Fier and Lushnje and has experienced significant urban and economic development. Its name is associated with one of the historical bridges over the Devoll River and with the presence of natural oil resources that have been exploited since the 20th century.

The territory of Dimal is characterized by fertile soil, which favors the development of agriculture and livestock. The area is known for its fresh agricultural products, especially vineyards, olives and seasonal fruits, which are an important source of the local economy.

The cultural heritage of Dimal is linked to the traditional life of the villages of the area, where ancient customs, crafts, local gastronomy and characteristic hospitality are preserved. Also present are cultural heritage objects such as local churches and mosques, traditional buildings, as well as folk festivals that bring the community together and preserve local identity.

Dimali is a city that stands on the foundations of antiquity, but which today moves towards the future through sustainable economic, cultural and tourist development.
