The Ethnographic Museum is located in one of the most representative houses of traditional Berat architecture from the 18th century, which is itself an object of historical and cultural value. The two-story building, with an internal courtyard and characteristic elements such as the çardak, decorative fireplaces and functional interior partitions, reflects the style of the Berat dwelling with influences from the Ottoman period.
The museum preserves around 1400 artifacts that testify to the way of life, family organization, traditions and folk craftsmanship of the Berat area and its surroundings. The first floor is conceived as a recreation of the Medieval Bazaar, where artisanal tools, traditional costumes, household appliances and everyday items are exhibited, which reflect the economic and cultural life of past centuries.
The upper floor presents the typical rooms of a Berat house from the 18th - 19th centuries, where visitors can see the original furnishings, the rooms divided according to function (guest room, family room, kitchen), as well as special decorative elements such as carpets, carved ceilings and handmade textiles.
The museum serves not only as an exhibition center, but also as a space for education and cultural identity, offering local and foreign visitors a rich panorama of the spiritual and material heritage of the city of Berat, declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO.
