Blackthorn

The Blackthorn is a wetland area located near the village of Strum, in the Municipality of Roskovec, Fier District, Albania. It represents a remnant of a much larger marsh that once existed in this region: about 3 hectares of land are still covered with water, while the rest has either disappeared or been used for other purposes. The marsh has remained a place with natural features, including water, wild reeds, fish, and waterbirds. The dark color of the water—which also gave it the name “Black”—and the water source located below sea level are characteristics that make this site unique.
