The Ethnographic and Historical Museum of Peshkopi is located in the city center, about 30 meters from the main boulevard. Over the years, it has been housed in various buildings, but currently, it occupies the building of the “Haki Stërmilli” House of Culture, a two-story structure that, despite its age, is very well maintained. In this building, visitors can explore three pavilions containing around 2000 important relics from different historical periods. A full visit typically takes about an hour and a half.
The museum begins with the Archaeology Pavilion, which displays objects discovered in various areas of Dibra, such as Çetush, Burim, Çidhen, Topojan, and Grezhdan, dating from the early Neolithic period to the Middle Ages. Next is the History Pavilion, which highlights notable figures from Dibra who played significant roles in the national history. Exhibits include the lives, wars, and political activities of figures such as Vehbi Dibra (Agolli), Elez Isuf Ndreu, Haxhi Lleshi, and others.
The Ethnography Pavilion is the largest, with three rooms arranged according to the type of objects displayed. Special attention is given to the “Friends’ Room,” featuring items such as barbecues, musical instruments, wooden and earthenware dishes, tapestries, and more. Another room showcases traditional men’s and women’s clothing, including Dibra costumes, vests made with gold thread, cradles, and other cultural items. Additionally, the museum walls are adorned with paintings by some of the most famous local artists.
