The Bektashi Tekke of Melan is located in the village of Nepravishte, Libohova municipality, near Gjirokastra, and is built on a historic site with the ruins of an Illyrian castle. The current building was built in 1800 by Baba Ali from Gjirokastra, while previously there was an old Bektashi Tekke under the direction of Hasan Baba. The architecture includes the main prayer hall with a circular shape, side rooms and galleries, while the courtyard has trees and an Ottoman fountain. The Tekke serves as a pilgrimage site and center of the Bektashi community, where religious rituals and celebrations take place, and a dervish takes care of the maintenance and hospitality of the believers.
In 2017, the Melanit Tekke was declared a Category I Cultural Monument. During periods of unrest and the communist regime, the building suffered damage and was closed, but after the 1990s it was restored and re-functioned as a religious center. It is considered one of the oldest and most important Bektashi tekkes in southern Albania, with historical, architectural, religious and cultural value, offering a combination of history, traditional architecture, natural landscape and spirituality for visitors and the local community.
