Rruzhdia, a hilly area of beautiful nature

From the point of view of relief, Rruzhdia is the highest area with a range of hills reaching 500 m high. The hydrography is represented by: Rruzhdia Lake, Gjinoqarë and the Gjinoqarë Stream that flows into the Gjanicë River. Varied terrain
and the favorable climate have guided the development of agriculture and livestock.

From an ethnographic point of view, the villages belong to the province of Mallakastra. The area continues to fanatically preserve its customs, traditions of hospitality and patriotism. The main religious faith is Bektashism. The village of Kasnicë is known as the source of
The first oil well in the Patos area (July 1926).

Although a deep hilly area, Rruzhdia surprises you with its picturesque landscape, values, traditions and cultural monuments. In the village of Gjinoqarë there are many Illyrian tombs as well as three water springs over 200 years old built of stone, namely with the names: the spring of the Vironi church (located near “Rrapi të Zhugrit”), “Dervishaj”, “Kasaj” (the latter reconstructed in 2012).

Lake Ruzhdie was built in the 70s to irrigate the fertile lands along the Gjanice River. It is also used for the breeding of various fish species. It is an added value both for the impact it has on the lives of the inhabitants, but also on the impressive nature of Ruzhdie.

To highlight the natural values of this area, its traditions and cuisine, the Municipality of Patos organizes here, every October 20, the local festival “Sofra Bujare” Patos. This festival focuses on celebrating and promoting culture, tradition, ethnography,
culinary, handicrafts, beautiful and prosperous nature in olive and viticulture cultures.
