The Historical Museum of Pogradec has been open since November 1964. This museum has an archaeological and historical-ethnographic character. It houses a rich collection of artifacts, which represent the history of the entire Pogradec region, from the first traces of humanity in this region in the early Neolithic period (8000 years ago) to the present day.
Most of the objects belong to a specific local historical context and are unique not only for the Pogradec region, but for the whole of Albania. The museum's archaeological collection includes a number of completely unique objects such as: a part of the palafitte beams of the Boqeza settlement, which is the oldest settlement of its kind in Europe, 2 Illyrian helmets, weapons, ceramic objects, bronze figurines of the god Hermes, loom weights, etc.
The ethnographic collection includes jewelry, clothing, and weapons inherited from generation to generation in Pogradec families, while the historical collection is rich in documents and photographs of old Pogradec, starting from the period of the National Renaissance and continuing until the end of World War II.
