The Narta Lagoon is a protected natural area of special ecological importance, located south of the city of Vlora, on the Adriatic coast. This lagoon constitutes a unique habitat for many species of waterfowl and wild fauna, becoming a key point for the conservation of biodiversity in Albania. The surface of the lagoon is characterized by shallow waters, shrubs and areas with salt grass, suitable for the life and reproduction of many rare species.
The Narta Lagoon is of great importance for the local ecosystem and for the development of ecotourism in the region. It offers numerous opportunities for bird watching, nature walks and educational activities for visitors of all ages. Within its territory is also the island of Zvërnec, where the Byzantine Monastery of St. Mary is located, a monument of historical and cultural importance.
