The Church of the Transfiguration was declared a cultural monument on May 30, 1970, by the Ministry of Education and Culture. It is located in the village of Herbel, within the Maqellarë Administrative Unit, about 1.5 kilometers east of the Peshkopi–Tirana highway.The church was built before the Turkish invasion, using a simple three-sided technique. Its construction reflects artisanal craftsmanship in the Byzantine style from the early medieval period. The Church of the Transfiguration features a simple and elegant structural design.
