Gorica Bridge, one of the most famous symbols of Berat, was built in stone in 1777 by Ahmet Kurt Pasha, replacing an earlier wooden bridge mentioned by Evlija Çelebi in the 17th century. It has undergone several interventions, especially after the collapse by floods in 1880, partially changing its original form. The bridge has a length of 127 meters and consists of seven semicircular arches, with a special functional structure that facilitates the flow of water. In addition to its architectural value, the bridge is also known for the ritual of throwing the cross into the Osum River on January 6.
