The House of Myfit Bey Libohova, also known as “Myfit Bey’s Mansions”, is a historical building of special importance, located in the center of the city of Libohova, near the main boulevard and opposite the Avni Rustemi Square. The building was built in the 30s and represents the legacy of the famous Libohova family, a family that has played an important historical role in the region. The mansions served as the residence of the public figure Myfit Bey Libohova (1876–1927), known for his activity as a politician, diplomat and minister in high positions such as Justice, Internal Affairs, Finance and Culture, as well as for proposing the name “Lek” for the Albanian currency when he was Minister of Finance.
The house/saraje has been declared a “Cultural Monument, Category II”, recognizing its historical and cultural value. It represents an example of residential architecture of the era and has played an important role in the social and political life of Libohova, linking the history of the Libohova family with the development of the city and the modern Albanian state. Today, the building is the subject of restoration, with the aim of restoring it as a tourist attraction, preserving and promoting the city’s cultural heritage.
