Gjalica is the highest mountain in the Kukës district and part of the Korab mountain range. With an altitude of 2489 meters, it represents an important destination for mountaineering and mountain tourism. The relief is characterized by steep slopes, sharp ridges and limestone formations. From the top, a wide panorama opens up over the Kukës basin, the Shishtavec plateau and the surrounding areas. The mountain has several traditional trails starting from the villages of Shtiqën, Nangë, Lojme and from the city of Kukës itself, with varying levels of difficulty. Dense forests and a rich biodiversity with rare plant and animal species are preserved on its slopes.
