There are over 80 natural karst lakes in the territory of the Belsh Municipality, with a total area of about 640 ha. These lakes are formed due to karst phenomena, filling with water in the cavities of gypsum rocks. They vary in size, depth and shape. The water-holding capacity of these lakes reaches about 26 million m³ of water. Various types of fish grow in these lakes, such as carp, bream and grass carp, and some of them are used for irrigation in agriculture. Some lakes have peat, while others are known for the white and yellow lilies that grow in them.
