It is one of the most important nature reserves in Albania, located southwest of Shëngjin, near the mouth of the Drin River, about 8 km from the city of Lezha.
The area includes lagoons, forests, marshes, islands and wild beaches, and is the first protected area in the country. It is very rich in biodiversity: over 200 species of waterfowl, including flamingos and the Dalmatian pelican, as well as a large variety of fish and mammals.
There are telescopes at the entrance for observation, and day tours offer rich outdoor experiences, environmental education, and fauna exploration. Kune-Vaini is a natural gem that is increasingly attracting domestic and foreign tourists.
